Just to bring you up to speed ... in the 13 months since I last posted, we had a baby girl named Noodle (not really), who has red hair and is adorable. She is now 10.5 months old and almost walking. She knows a few words and has a very silly sense of humor. She is a good napper and a pretty good sleeper, God bless her.
We are still in the same apartment -- it will be three years next month! Since Noodle's arrival, it has gotten kind of full and cluttered. I was really loving our apartment until I made friends with a mom two doors down living in an apartment identical to ours, but much better decorated. Suddenly I feel like all of our stuff, especially our furniture, is too big, and the whole place looks like an old lady lived here for 50 years and died, leaving a huge pile of junk. I need help! I am humbly posting pictures of my living room from four different angles. Please ignore the huge mess in the dining room and kitchen -- I had to move some clutter out so that you can see what is going on in the living room. I do not have much of a budget for new furniture, so we need to work with what we have, and I am open to rearranging it. Also, the long chaise piece on the couch can be moved to any other couch cushion or the arm chair.
Thank you, and please be nice!

Glad that you are back.. I hope you stick with it!!
Here's what I would do....
I would probably get rid of your coffee table and try to replace it with something round or square. Couches with a chaise lounge look much better with round/sqaure shapes instead of rectangles. Maybe sell that one on craigs list and use the money to replace it. It's not unattractive, but it doesn't look very modern young couple either.
Also, this is only 69 bucks and I think it would work well in your room (we have this at our house). http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10103088. Although it's technically a bookcase, you don't have to use it upright (we don't). I would buy that, turn it on it's side and use it as your new TV stand. That will help elongate your wall AND it will help with your clutter. You could fill every square with baskets to hide clutter (walmart sells a perfect fit for about 10 bucks) or leave some empty and put some books, picture frames, decor in there.
Lastly, if you are able to do that and can get rid of the book case on the right of the couch, I would put the large armchair in it's place and angle it slightly inward. Then you could put the ottoman with the chair and keep your rectangular coffee table. The armchair angle will help define the space and separate the rooms.
I'd probably get rid of that smaller chair in there b/c you don't need it.
Oh, and do you sew? How about making some new punchy pillows for your couch complementing colors.
If Mike is handy you could even get some plywood, make a valence for over the slider, and then glue or staple fabric to it for really cheap. That will add some character as well.
Okay, I'll shut up now. As you can tell, I love to decorate and I think I'm pretty good at it. :)
Sorry, wow that was long!
